Former Governor of Cross River State, Donald Duke, and other top members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Cross River have welcomed some defectors back into the PDP from the All Progressive Congress, including Hon. Ekpo Okon, Hon. Wilson Ekpeyong, Hon. Paul Ogar, Ntufam Asu E. and two others (APC).
Duke welcomed party members back to the party at the PDP state secretariat in Calabar, saying that defections from other parties will be accepted in phases. He promised that more defectors would be welcomed into the PDP in the near future.

“We can’t afford to offer our best minds to others; they should return and let us clean up the house.” This podium would be unable to hold all individuals who wish to rejoin the PDP if they were all received today. As a result, we’ve decided to do it in batches,'” he explained.

Ekpo Okon thanked God for his return to the party and confirmed that it was a return to his home as he spoke at the gathering.

“Let me express my gratitude to the Almighty God for this day, as well as those who have kept the umbrella up.” It’s a trip back to the PDP for me.
You may be summoned back to your home on occasion. I heard the call from the streets of Calabar, as well as from each and every one of you.

“Your Excellency, Dr. Donald Duke, Senator Jarigbe Agom, Hon. Dan Asuquo, the very exceptional Dansuki, and so many more, I could not resist your calls.”

“I know how many times I’ve received calls from people who aren’t here.”

The former commissioner stated that he reacted to the call to rejoin the PDP because he understood that the appeal was to resurrect their collaborative efforts to save Cross River State.

He bemoaned the fact that the state was just as awful as the state library.

Earlier in the ceremony, PDP State Chairman Venatius Ikem promised that there would be significant defections back to the PDP between now and March of next year.

“As you know, it’s harvest season, so we’ll be harvesting soon.” And, as I previously stated, we are simply waving off the harvest because I am aware of the lineup that is awaiting acceptance into our great party, the PDP.

“I just arrived here from Obanliku, and the line up was huge, so we’ll be harvesting a lot from now till April, May, and June.” “I believe God has called me to head this team and help Cross River State recover,” he stated.
