Dr. Bukola Saraki, the former Senate President, has won the support of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) branch in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in his campaign to win the main opposition party’s presidential ticket in the 2023 election.

A proposal to that effect was submitted by a chieftain in the chapter, Alhaji Ogah Doma, at a stakeholders meeting of the party on Saturday.

This comes on the heels of the former Kwara state governor’s recent endorsement from the party’s Benue, Nasarawa, and Niger States chapters.

Prior to the adoption, PDP leaders in the FCT stated that in 2023, only a presidential candidate from the North Central will suffice.

They claimed that the region had made significant contributions to deepening democracy in the country since the military returned to the barracks in 1999, but that it had yet to be recognized for its selflessness, devotion, and sacrifice to the PDP’s growth and expansion.

Doma’s proposal was put to a voice vote and unanimously approved by all those in attendance.

The party’s stakeholders reaffirmed their unequivocal support for the PDP presidential ticket being micro-zoned to the North Central geopolitical zone.

The FCT Chairman was one of the party leaders that attended the meeting.
