According to reports, on Tuesday, January 11, the deceased, Emmanuel Ojo, who was a JSS3 student at CAC Grammar School in Akure before his death, slipped and injured his head on a concrete floor while playing on the school grounds.

The school’s administration reportedly hurried him to the University of Medical Science Teaching Hospital in Akure, but he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Following the death of the minor, the Ondo State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology’s Information Officer, Mr Olaoluwa Meshack, released a statement revealing that the Ondo State Commissioner for Education, Mr Olufemi Agagu, and other government officials paid a condolence visit to the school and the deceased’s family.

In the statement, the commissioner urged the bereaved family to “take solace in God, believing that Him alone knows the appointed time for every being on earth.”

Meanwhile, during the Commissioner’s visit to the school, Mrs. Oluwapelumi Adetimehin, the principal, recounted the events leading up to the tragic event.

She stated that the deceased, who was 16 years old, was healthy, active, and full of life when he returned to school on Tuesday, but that he developed a headache shortly after the Principal’s exam.



According to eyewitness testimonies, the deceased sat peacefully among his classmates for a while until they began to goof around, according to Adetimehin.



He later attempted to jump through the window, but smashed his head against the post and collapsed, striking his head on the concrete floor, according to the principal.

She went on to say that Emmanuel’s fellow students raised the alarm, which drew the attention of school staff, and she brought him to the hospital right away, However, he was instructed to be sent to Akure’s teaching hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Pastor Joshua Ojo, the deceased’s father and a shepherd at CAC, Oke-Iyanu, High School area in Akure, characterized the occurrence as a tragic twist of fate for the family, but said he couldn’t blame God for allowing it to happen to him.

Despite the Ondo state government’s and the school’s principal’s statements. Nigerians are demanding explanations over the minor’s death.

Oluyemi Fasipe, an Ondo State Youth Representative and Youth Advocate, took to Twitter to inquire about the boy’s treatment at the school’s clinic before being rushed to the University of Medical Science Teaching Hospital in Akure.
