Senator Umar Tanko Almakura, who represents Nasarawa South in the National Assembly, has earned the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Ilorin branch’s award of excellence.
The NBA presented him with the award at a dinner and award night in Ilorin, Kwara state.
Senator Al-Makura received the award in appreciation of his various contributions to the country’s progress in politics, business, government, charity, and humanity.
Senator Al-Makura received the award from Kwara state Governor Alhaji Abdul Rahman Adulrazaq, who was accompanied by a delegation led by Alhaji Yusuf Shehu, a former Attorney General and commissioner for Justice in Nasarawa State and secretary of the Council of Legal Education.
Senator Almakura praised the Nigerian Bar Association, Ilorin Branch, for bestowed such a prestigious honour on him in his acceptance address.
He emphasized the critical role of judges and attorneys in shaping society, supporting the rule of law, and ensuring law and order.
Al-Makura committed to continue to do his best for the welfare of society and the country by donating N2 million and law reports worth N1 million to the NBA, Ilorin chapter.
Alhaji AbdulGaniyu Bello, Chairman of NBA Ilorin Branch, earlier in a news conference thanked the honorees on their distinguished contribution to the association and mankind at general, and advised them not to be complacent.
