Moses Simon was the Super Eagles’ livewire down the left side of the attack, as the Nantes winger was crucial in breaking through an Egyptian defense that was at a loss for how to stop the Super Eagles. Nigeria dominated possession in the first half but failed to produce clear-cut chances for Awoniyi and Iheanacho in the Eagles’ attacking third. Iheanacho finally scored a goal in the 30th minute, when he shot the ball into the roof of the Egyptian net.
