Labor has sounded alarm bells over what the secretary of the Independent National Electoral Commission described as a deliberate effort to block pending presidential election lawsuits in court.
The chief spokesman for the Labor Party’s presidential election council, Dr. Yunusa Tanko, sounded the alarm in a statement in Abuja on Saturday.
He said the INEC secretary wrote a memo to the various state resident election commissions to only publish results that match those the commissions published on its servers.
“The legal team of the campaign organization OBI/Datti requested the results of 36 states and other materials used in the election after his last visit to INEC,” Tanko said.
“At this time, the INEC Secretary has sent a letter to all Resident Electoral Commissions (RECs) instructing them not to publish results that do not match those published on the INEC servers. It’s a flag.Attached copy.
“It has become very important to keep the docile movement and Nigerians informed of this development.
“For the survival of our democracy and the stability of our country, INEC has issued a statement issued by the court that all legal materials requested by the legal team.
“Dear members of the press, we have until Sunday, March 19th to file our case. They say 1 stitch saves 9 stitches. ”
