If Dr. Otti didn’t emerge as Governor, many Abians would have given up on their Christian faith — Uche Ogah.
Former Minister for solid mineral, Dr. Sampson Uche Ogah has described Abia State Governor-elect, His Excellency, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, as a source of hope for the people of Abia State.
The oil mogul and APC chieftain made the statement at St. James Methodist Church, Umuda, Umuahia, on Saturday, 25th March, 2023, where he spoke as a keynote speaker at the church’s Annual Diocesan Synod titled-“Contending the Faith”.
According to him, “If Dr. Otti had not emerged as the governor-elect of this state (Abia State), many Christians here would have given up on Christianity”.
“We’re all happy to witness a new era in Abia. A new era of hope and excitement. Many people would have been discouraged if the PDP had come out on top in the election. We pray that God will use him to wipe away the tears of millions of Abia people”, he concluded.
Dr. Alex Otti is a Nigerian economist, banker, and politician. He was born on November 18, 1965, in Umuru, Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area of Abia State, Nigeria.
Dr. Otti is a graduate of Economics from the University of Port Harcourt and also holds a Master’s degree in Banking and Finance from the University of Lagos. He obtained his PhD in Political Economy from the University of Port Harcourt.
He started his career with the Central Bank of Nigeria and rose to become the Executive Director of First Bank of Nigeria Plc. He also served as the Group Managing Director and CEO of Diamond Bank Plc, one of the leading banks in Nigeria, from 2011 to 2014.
Dr. Otti ventured into politics in 2015 when he contested for the Governorship seat of Abia State under the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) party, but was unsuccessful. He later joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) party and contested for the same position in the 2019 general elections but was again unsuccessful.
Dr. Otti is a respected economist and banker with over 30 years of experience in the banking industry. He has received several awards and recognitions for his contributions to the Nigerian banking sector and the economy as a whole.
