Haruna G. Garba, the commissioner of police for Yobe State Command, has issued a warning to mischief-makers and troublemakers that any attempt at violence will be met with fierce retaliation.

The CP issued the warning ahead of the impending governor and state assembly elections in the state through the Command’s public relations officer, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, in a statement released on Thursday.

Also, he urged parents and guardians to advise their kids and wards to abstain from acting as thugs, gang members, or brigands before, during, or after the elections.

The state’s political party leaders have been tasked by the police commissioner to advise their supporters to refrain from any actions that could compromise the smooth and effective conduct of the elections on March 18, 2023.

He threatened that “the Police leadership will deal harshly with anyone who attempts to disrupt the voting process using the instrumentality of the law”.

In order to “have lasting peace and security in the state,” CP Haruna also entrusted the Royal Fathers, the Emirs, and the Chiefs with continuing to preach the gospel of peace and a non-violent approach to problem-solving, as they have done for years.
